CONGRATULATIONS CHICAGO!
The 2009 Sydney Theatre Critics Awards held on Monday 18 January brought huge success for CHICAGO, winning three awards in total:
* Best Production of a Musical
* Sharon Millerchip - Judith Johnson Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical
* Damien Bermingham - Judith Johnson Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical

COLLEEN HEWETT IS MAMA AS CHICAGO EXTENDS
CHICAGO THE MUSICAL is extending its run. The musical opened in Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on August 15 and was to have finished its Melbourne season in November. But Producer John Frost has announced a further six week extension until December 13.
‘We’re delighted that the success of CHICAGO has meant that we are able to extend our stay at Her Majesty’s,’ he said, ‘but this means that Gina Riley will be leaving on Sunday, November 8.
‘Colleen Hewett will be taking over Gina’s role as Matron ‘Mama’ Morton, the keeper of the keys to the cell block of merry murderesses.

CONGRATULATIONS CHICAGO!
This week at the 2009 Helpmann Awards® CHICAGO’s very own Sharon Millerchip walked away with the Best Female Actor in a Musical award. Not only did CHICAGO win an award but surprised the audience with a little razzle dazzle by performing "We Both Reached for the Gun" aka "The Press Conference Rag" - a ventriloquist act starring Sharon Millerchip (Roxie Hart) and Craig McLachlan (Billy Flynn).

During this Wednesday 24 June matinee CHICAGO celebrates is 100th performance! Having only performed in Brisbane and Sydney so far, CHICAGO is proving to be a hit show for Australians.

CHICAGO LAUNCHED IN MELBOURNE
The launch of CHICAGO Melbourne was held at the Old Melbourne Gaol on Monday 20 April 2009. The Gaol became the ‘Cook County Jail’ for the evening with the historical building lit up inside in CHICAGO red and blasting out the songs of CHICAGO inside. Guests were met at the door by Sergeants and taken through to mingle in the cells and enclosed exercise yards. After an assorted selection of canapés, and wine provided Plantagenet, guests were escorted by the Sergeants to the Main Building.

BRISBANE SIZZLES WITH CHICAGO!
In the same week that the international hit musical Chicago became the seventh longest running production in the history of Broadway (5,125 performances), the stunning new Australian production opened in Brisbane to rapturous applause and universal critical acclaim.
Producer John Frost was thrilled with the reception the show received. “It took many years of negotiating to get the rights for a revival of Chicago,” Frost said, “but it was worth the wait.
