Chicago The Musical

Chicago Melbourne Launch

The launch of CHICAGO Melbourne was held at the Old Melbourne Gaol on Monday 20 April 2009. The Gaol became the ‘Cook County Jail’ for the evening with the historical building lit up inside in CHICAGO red and blasting out the songs of CHICAGO inside. Guests were met at the door by Sergeants and taken through to mingle in the cells and enclosed exercise yards. After an assorted selection of canapés, and wine provided Plantagenet, guests were escorted by the Sergeants to the Main Building.

Producer John Frost welcomed the guests before they were entertained by clips from the show projected on the upper wall. Principal cast members, Caroline O’Connor, Sharon Millerchip & Craig McLachlan bedazzled guests by performing numbers from the show upon a bridge suspended above the crowd.

To close the night with a bang John Frost announced that Gina Riley will be performing in CHICAGO Melbourne in the role she is currently playing in Brisbane and is soon to perform in Sydney – Matron “Mama” Morton. Afterwards cast members signed autographs to add that little extra ‘Razzle Dazzle’ to the night.
