DAVID DOWNER
David Downer has been an actor for over thirty years and is delighted to be part of Calendar Girls. He began his career after graduating from N.I.D.A. appearing at the Old Tote Theatre in The Imaginary Invalid witsh Jacki Weaver and Helen Morse. After working in England for a number of years he returned to Australia where he spent over six years with The Melbourne Theatre Company in which he appeared in over 35 productions including Pericles, Ring Round the Moon, The Doll Trilogy and The Beaux Stratagem.
David was invited by Frank Hauser to play Algernon in the Old Vic’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest. David’s credits for The Sydney Theatre Company include Woman In Mind, The Way of the World, The Normal Heart, Shadowlands and The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. David has also been in many productions at The Marian Street Theatre where one of his favourite roles was Dracula! On television his most recent appearances were for Underbelly ll and he played Ross Buckton in Home and Away. Movie work includes The Settlement, Mad Max 2, The Killing of Angle Street and Norman Loves Rose.
